About Jonathan Close

Jonathan is a retired police officer who is married and living in Cheshire. He draws on broad life experiences as much as his personal skills honed from his 35 years of police service in his family mediation practice and helping individuals as a McKenzie Friend.

Jonathan’s career in law enforcement began in 1989 when he joined the Metropolitan Police. In 1994, he transferred to the Royal Hong Kong Police, where he predominantly worked in criminal investigations of major commercial frauds, served as an INTERPOL Liaison in Hong Kong, and was part of the Operations Bureau. His diverse roles also included serving as an operational Bomb Disposal Officer. He retired from the force as a Chief Inspector, having been involved in court work and frontline policing, particularly in dealing with time-critical situations. In addition to his practical experience, Jonathan has also pursued academic excellence, earning a Masters Degree in Fraud Risk Management.

Since leaving the Police in 2023, he has been engaged in helping individuals through the McKenzie Friend scheme. He has also qualified as a Family Mediator and hopes to use his life skills to positively help people.
